The Land That TIme Forgot Task 2

Test Story 

I was thinking of making my main characters name Time so that he or she would travel, or mysteriously end up in an unknown land. Or I could make time the initials of my character. For example T.I.M.E Timothy Icarus Michael Eikenboom. Or I could have 4 characters that have only one name and together there initials make T.I.M.E and they could be super heroes or something.

-Story
They were destined to save their home land. The Orical prophesied they were going to save the land from the darkness that is about to come. There prophecy was spread throughout the land and reached the evil sorcerer, who was plotting to take over the kingdom. Knowing they would one day stop him he planned to assassinate them before they got a chance. Using his dark magic he summoned a creature from the depths of the earth to carry out his plan to kill the destined heroes of the land.

Main Characters:
(2 male 2 female)

• Toki - female Japanese name meaning time of opportunity

• Idan - Unisex Hebrew name meaning era, or time

• Miku - Female Japanese name meaning long time, sky, and beautiful

• Eilam - Male Hebrew name meaning eternal, immortal, and forever. Pronounced ay-LAHM

Villain:
My villains name is Deja-Vu
Deja-Vu is a french word which literally means already seen. Deja-Vu is a phenomenon that happens sometimes. You end up having a strong feeling that an event or experience that is currently happening at the moment has happened before, regardless of it being true or not.

• Evil sorcerer

• Some one from there home land 

• Summons an ancient creature that was sealed away long ago

Clothing Style:
Steam Punk mixed with a little Cyberpunk but mainly Steampunk

My main characters are going to be from a Magical Land

Steam Punk Outfit Research 

I am going to use these images to help me create the wright outfit for my female characters. I really like the Steampunk style, I think it looks really cool, but I might also add a Cyberpunk style, to my characters outfit to give it a different look. As I was trying to find images that inspire me to create my characters outfit I thought it was easier finding female clothing than male.

 

I found it difficult to find Steampunk fashion for guys, because there were a lot more for women then men. When I found some outfits for guys I didn't really like them, and it took me a while to find images that I like and images that inspired me. I realized that many guys wore old fashion clothes, with Steampunk accessories.  

 

 

The Land That Time Forgot Task 1

Narrative is kind of a story, or an event that is told in order to make sense. A narrative can be events that are connected and can be show through moving picture, text, or by voice. Non Narrative is something that doesn't makes sense and can be in any order and doesn't really tell a story. For example a dictionary is a non narrative.

Story Ideas 

-Atlantis
Atlantis didn't sink it went up into the sky

-Humans
Humans are from another planet and they wont be able to survive so the move to earth, they crash and the ship was covered by a land slide and there were only two survived but had a severe head injury and have to repopulate there race, they are now know as neanderthals.

-Demons
Demons are good and angels are bad but the angels trick the demons and turn them evil, now people see angels as good creatures and demons as bad creatures.

-Floating island
Mythical creatures and neon/fluorescent lights
All creatures on the island there is only one boy that lives there and he has to save the island and the creatures from the people from below on the surface

-Death
The Land That Time Forgot could mean Death or The Land of The Dead because we don't know what happens to people after they die, time could stop for the people who are dead, or when time forgets someone they die, and go to the land that time forgot. Time stops for the people who are dead maybe.  

-Name

 Primary Research

-Sky 
I really like the sky so sometimes I takes photos of the sky when I really like the view. I am going to use these photos as a reference for my work. I really like the colours and the the look of the clouds when they gather in certain areas. I also like the way the colours blend together, and how many different colours can appear in the sky at the same time. 

 -Human Figures
I have taken a few photos of my friends from different views so I can use them as a reference for my character design and so I know the human figure, anatomy and proportions.

 

 -Nature
These are a couple of photos of when it snowed in the Christmas and New Year holiday, I really like these photos because you can see the light from the city which look really beautiful, and the horizon line looks like its glowing. 

 

 

  
-Nature 
These photos are gonna help me create a cave for one of my mythical creature that are gonna be in my story, and animation. I thought I could use this as a guideline because this is the type of cave I want to serve as a habitat for one of my mythical creatures.

 These photos are of different views of trees and grass, which are gonna help me place trees and bushes in certain places of my floating island to make it look mystical and magical. But look kinda abandoned but beautiful and full of nature also inhabited by mystical creatures.

 

These are a few photos of branches and how they have grown in there own unique way, because some are close together and other spread out, I also have a photo of a broken tree branch. I thought these images will help me with how branches look and how I could draw them to suit certain mythical creatures habitats.

  

These two images will help me create the grass and pathways on the floating island.

I really liked these images, I thought they looked kinda epic, because of how far you can see also because, it gives the affect of you being really high up in the sky and your looking down at the land. I wanted to used these photos as a guide for when or if, there is a scene of some one looking at the land below them from the floating island.

I thought I could use these photos for my water type mythical creature, or if I have a little piece of land on the island which is surrounded by water, and there could be a mermaid maybe on there looking all epic. So these image will help as a guide for me.

Secondary Research

Chrono trigger is a video game about a group of young adults that travel through time to solve there goals but they end up creating a grandfather paradox, so they have to fix the problem they made and there are a lot of other different quests that they go on, but each quest is in different time period. This game could relate to the theme The Land that Time Forgot because it could mean the Land could represent the past so that could mean that time forgets the past. Also I really like the art work in the game and I am going to use it as a reference because it has a floating island in the game and in my story I am going to include a floating island so it gives me a basic idea of what a floating island looks like.

 
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is a film about a girl called Makoto who gains the ability to time travel. She uses her power to solve the problems she has. But she realizes that the tattooed number on her wrist is the limit to how much she can time leap. I think this film also relates to the theme because its about time travel and once you change the out come of the future the previous out come is lost, which could mean that time forgot the previous outcome.



In Time is a movie is set in the year 2169. In that time period people are born genetically engineered with a digital clock on their forearm. 

When they reach the age of 25, they stop aging and they clock begins to count down from one year, when it get to zero the person dies. Time has become a universal currency, and is used to pay for every day expenses. Also time can be transferred between people and put into capsules. The country has been divided in to time zones based on wealth. I think this movie relates to the theme because its like time controlled and over powered everyone, and no one could do anything because no matter what people die as time goes by. But now in this film people have learned how to take time from others and use it for them selves so they can live longer.They have taken time into there own hands.

I think that certain instruments can represent time, because when a father clock strikes 12 the bells start ringing to let every one know an hour has passed by. I think all these instruments represent time because of the the sound they make. I also think all these instruments make a similar sound. I am thinking of using music that has these instruments, because it would give a good effect to the character that can control time or is time.

Steampunk is a sub genre of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Art that has features of steam powered machinery. Steampunk is most recognized retro futuristic inventions as the 19th century people would have envisioned it, also in fashion, culture, and technology. I think steampunk relates to the theme because of style and the gears remind me of time and clocks. I really like the style and how machinery and gears have been added in to fashion, I also like the way it looks and I think its different and very affective because I think the fabric and the look of the metal can complement each other. 

I also wanted to add Celestial mythical creatures to my story. Celestial means supremely good, and heavenly or some thing related to the sky, outer space, or astronomy. I have started to reasearch celestial mythical creatures, and these are the ones that mainly interested me.
The first one is a mythical crature called Inari. Inari is a fox god of prosperity, harvest, fertility, rice, tea, and sake from the Japanese belief. Originally the fox god was known to associate with swords smiths and merchants in early Japan. It is seen as both male and female or niether sex. Inari is also known as Okami somtimes.












I also like Celestial creature called Ky-Lin. It is a Chinese beast that has the body of a stag, the head of a dragon with a single horn coming from it and it has a tail of an ox. These five parts represent the five elements, of the five virtues.
It is the essence of Yin and Yang with the Ky being the male aspect and the Lin being the female aspect. The Ky-Lin was said to live for 2,000 years and that it could spit fire, and roar thunder. The Ki-Lin is also a mount for the gods and is seen as an auspicious symbol. The Ky-Lin is said to be so powerful and divine that the only animal more majestic and powerful than the Ki-Lin is the Dragon. 

 

The Abgal is a Sumerian myth, an Abgal is an half-fish half-man creature. Abgal is the Akkadian name for them, Apkallu is the Sumerian name. These Merfolk creatures would help civilize humanity by teaching art and science to them which they did during the day. They would also not eat during they day because they were on land so, at night they would return to the ocean to eat. Some people believed that the Abgal are actually spirits and not Merfolk. I couldn't find an image I liked of the Abgal, so I searched for Merfolk instead, and I found this image but the Abgal are Merfolk so I thought this image would be ok.


 

The Achiyalabopa is a North American Celestial bird from the Pueblo people  of North America. It is said that the Celestial creature has rainbow colours and has feathers like knives. Some believed that the Celestial creature created the Universe. I really liked this creature because, I think it looks beautiful  and even its description sounds majestic and strong.
